The Duma decided to send an appeal to Putin for recognition of the DNR and LNR

The State Duma has decided to send an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the DNR and LNR. This decision was made at the plenary session of parliament. There were two options: to send it immediately to the president, or to send it to the Foreign Ministry for evaluation. As you understand, nothing just happens in the Russian parliament. And if the option to send it to Putin was agreed in advance, it means that this is the option that Putin needs. And this has several consequences. Now it becomes clear that with 99% probability Putin will recognize the independence of the DNR and LNR, which will lead to an immediate appeal of these formations to Putin about deployment of troops. Which will begin immediately. The Russian army concentrated on the border with Ukraine will officially (for the Russian side) enter the DNR and take positions on the line of contact. This is a light version of a direct invasion of Ukraine, and as if it preserves the status quo, without significant aggravation. But it is worth understanding that this is an intermediate option and as soon as the first Russian tank passes through the official Ukrainian border - sanctions will be imposed. Their extent can only be guessed. It also means that the Minsk agreements that Putin and Lavrov talked about so much are dead. The Putin administration has failed to force Ukraine to implement them, and now any reference to the Minsk agreements loses absolute, even formal, meaning. Ukraine will have its hands free in the question of a cease-fire and in the use of all kinds of weapons on the border of the ORDLO. Including the Russian troops, which will definitely be there quickly. This is roughly the situation at the moment. Interestingly, the massive information campaign in the world media actually prevented Putin from attacking Ukraine directly. But as I said, Putin can no longer simply back down and the recognition of the ORDLO is a light version of an attack. It is not much better than a direct attack and solves absolutely nothing. On the contrary, it makes Putin's negotiating position in the foreign arena much worse.
